Awesome...Chosen...Discovery...Called

I have had a couple of sleepless nights.  Thought it was the caffeine but I didn't have any tonight and still I cannot sleep.  When I cannot sleep, there is usually a song going through my head.  Tonight is no different.  The song, Awesome, by Charles Jenkins.

Scovia and I were driving down the road, on our way home from my Mothers house.  In my loaner car, I had Sirius and I was loving it.  The song, Awesome, came on and I knew it was something I needed to listen to over and over again.  Here are the lyrics.

Awesome

My God is Awesome
He can move mountains
Keep me in the valley
Hide me from the rain.

My God is Awesome
Heals me when I'm broken
Strength where I've been weakened
Forever He will reign.

My God is Awesome/Awesome, Awesome, Awesome
My God is Awesome/Awesome, Awesome, Awesome

My God is Awesome
Savior of the whole world
Giver of salvation
By His stripes I am healed

My God is Awesome
Today I am forgiven
His grace is why I'm living
Praise His holy name

He's mighty,
He's holy,
He's great.
Deliver,
Protector,
Provider.

My God is Awesome.

A thought came to me as I was lying in bed...AM I ABLE?

I thought of all the reasons why I am not able or qualified or the right one for the job.  I could see a chart in my mind. The chart looked similar to this,

Why I Can't                                                   Why I Can

Listed below this  column were so
many reasons.  This was a long list.                                           This side only
                                                                                               had 1...ONE...
                                                                                               ONLY ONE!!!!

Here is what the second column said                                          Because God
                                                                                   Chose                                                                                                    You.

You may think this is a strange post.  Maybe you believe this is me tooting my own horn or believing that I am more than I actually am.  Well, if that is what you believe, you are wrong...(sorry).

We have to realize that we are chosen by God.

He chose to give life to each and every one of us.  If that wasn't the case, we would not be here.

He chose to love us and give us each gifts.

He has plans for each of us.  He didn't bring us into this world so that we can be spiritual and natural consumers.  Heaping things and gifts upon ourselves, not concerned for or giving to others.  We have a purpose.  A reason for our gifts.  A reason to be here.

I will let you in on a little secret...Sometimes we are chosen to do something for a short time, sometimes it's for a long time.  We should always do the best job wherever it is that God has placed us.  Many of us have several things that God has chosen us to do.  In my case, I am a wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, teacher, writer, photographer, homemaker, singer, cousin, business owner, friend.  Each job (for lack of a better word) requires different things, different gifts.  I am not a professional at any of these things.   Let's just say, I have on the job training...:)  But, I love each and every one of these "jobs".  I know when I am leading worship, I am doing what I am called to do.  I know when I am wiping my grandsons nose or reading him a story or singing a song with him, that I am doing what I am called to do.

I just read a quote on Pinterest that I immediately wrote down in my trusty, handy dandy notebook.

"Life isn't about finding yourself,
it's about discovering
who God created
you to be."

Remember, when you are on your discovery to find out who it is that God created you to be...
      MY GOD IS AWESOME!!!!

No matter where it is you go, He is there.  He is loving you.  He is strengthening you.  He is guiding you.   He will put people in your life that will encourage you...they will be His hand extended to you.  They will be Him in the flesh...they will be your heavenly point of contact.

Be encouraged today.  You are not alone.

  1. Kimberly, I just wanted to say I read all your blogs and I have laughed and cried along with you. But this blog has me in tears this morning. It has touched a part that has struggled for a long time in believing in who I am. Thank you for this today. God bless you!!

    1. Dawn, thank you for your kind words and for reading my blog. I know the struggle is real because we don't see ourselves as God sees us. Remember that you are made in His image and you are His beloved daughter. I am so thankful that these words have touched you. That brings me such joy. Be Blessed.
