Music

I think a lot in song.  Someone can say something to me and it immediately brings a song to my mind.  It is a family trait.  My mom is like the musical archives.  My father will just say a couple of words and Mom can name the song and then sing it perfectly.  It is truly amazing.

Our family is musical.  Growing up we would sing in the car or just playing around the house.  For years we sang as a family in churches all around when my father would go to preach.  We love music.  Music is our special place to go when things get rough or uncomfortable.  It is a place where we can find connections that have been strained.

My brother and sister can write beautiful songs.  I remember when Ronald told me that a true lover of music can find something good in all genres.  I believe that to be true.

When we are leading worship, I feel my connection to the LORD is so intimate.  A song can be a message in itself.  At times it is as if you are communicating the very heart of God.  When I sing I can visualize what I am singing.  It is like a music video in my head.  My imagination is very vivid so as I visualize, I feel very deeply what I am singing.

Music is used in most situations: Weddings, birthdays, church, funerals, by the pool, at the beach, driving down the road, getting a baby to sleep, letting off some steam, dancing, ball games, holidays, school...

I am so thankful for music.  It is a true blessing in my life.

Psalm 33:1-3
1. Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.
2. Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
3. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy
